Every answer below points to something you can check yourself: a switch in the app, a document, or a company other than us.
Can anyone at AtanNote read my notes?
No. You are the only person who can open your notes, chats and recordings. Our staff tools show dates, sizes and status, never the text. If you need help with a note, support works from what you send them.
Is my voice used to train AI?
No. Your recording goes to our AI provider to be turned into text under a paid contract that forbids training on your content. The provider deletes uploaded audio shortly after processing and keeps request records only briefly for abuse checks. We never train our own models on your content, and we never sell it.
Can someone outside AtanNote get my notes from you?
AtanNote is a United States company and your data is stored in Singapore. We disclose user data only when legally required by valid process that binds a US company, and then only the minimum. Requests that do not meet that bar are declined, wherever they come from. When we are required to disclose, we tell you unless a court forbids it. If your situation needs a more specific answer, write to us and a person will reply.
What happens to the recording itself?
It stays with the note until you delete the note. If you prefer, choose a keep period in Settings → Data & Privacy, from "delete right after transcribing" to 90 days; older audio is then removed in a nightly clean-up while the transcript and note stay. If you never choose, nothing is removed. [Keep period available from DATE.]
What if I lose my phone, or want to leave?
Delete your account from Settings → Data & Privacy or at atannote.ai/delete-account. You get 7 days to change your mind, then everything is removed and you receive an email listing what was deleted. Signing out removes your notes from that phone.
Can I take everything with me?
Yes. Export any note as text, Markdown, Word or PDF from the note itself. Export your whole account as one file from Settings → Data & Privacy on the web: every note as readable Markdown and raw data, every chat and to-do, and links to your recordings. We email you each time an export is downloaded. Nothing is locked in.
Who checked any of this?
So far, we did, and the dated changelog below is our record. An independent review is planned; when it is done, its result is linked here. Found a problem? Write to support@atannote.ai. Our security.txt lists the same address.

- September 2026Keep period for recordings: kept forever unless you choose otherwise. Failed transcription segments, search logs and unreferenced audio are cleaned up on a schedule.
